Hey guys!
So this was a GREAT week!!
So let's start off with the mother and son story I shared last week. Last week I told you that a mother told us to go see her son because they were worried about him and to let him know that she loves him. Well, we tried stopping by and he wasn't there. So we went back again on Saturday and got to meet him. We told him that we know this is kind of strange, but that we met his mom and she wanted us to tell him that she loves him. To let him know that they really care about him. He seemed a little weirded out haha But I told him, "You are really cared for. They really care about you." And I think he started to catch on. And he got a smile on his face and said thank you. He said that that was really nice.
Later on we went back to the lady that told us about him to update her on our visit. While there she told us that he has been getting into a LOT of serious problems with addictions and they are concerned for him. It was a good interaction. I told her about the 12 step series that was just released on mormonchannel.org. They are some really powerful and intense videos. And I hope that it helps her son.... We didn't necessarily try to preach to her, but I feel that we fulfilled our purpose as representatives of Jesus Christ. It made me feel really good.
This week was a good week! We found 2 new investigators! And Peggy is starting to really understand what we are trying to teach her. Also, confession, I am getting uber attached to Peggy. And She was so sweet because she got emotional in our last lesson and told me that she feels it will be really hard when I leave because she is getting attached to me. Ah. I love her. <3
Oh yeah, Zone Conference was this last week too! It was REALLY good! There was a focus on making sure we are bringing members to our lessons to make sure that the investigator always has a friend at church. Well, since we got a (extremely gentle) rebuking on this matter, we pushed a lot harder to get a member to our lessons. Weeelll we had a lesson set up and we brought someone, but when we got there she had forgotten and wanted to reschedule for the next day. Well, we went about our day and completely forgot to get a member for the next day so we had to find a member the next morning. And I kid you not, we called 15 different people before we found someone who would come with us. And just to put some things into perspective for you, this week at church there were 11 members at sacrament meeting. Haha It was a good lesson for me that we can always do more.
BUT OK! THIS IS MY HIGHLIGHT FOR THE WEEK!
So yesterday, we went over to Sister Johnson's house to see her, her daughter Marissa, aaaannnnddd their new JAPANESE EXCHANGE STUDENT!! =D Do you know the joy that I have?!?! I got to speak with her lots and I totally loved it! BUT that is actually not the coolest part. While talking to her Sister Johnson had said she thought she went to a christian boarding school, but actually she didn't. And so I asked her if she learned about Jesus Christ in her school. She said no. So just to help her have an idea of what we do and such I just told her that that was what we do is teach people about Jesus Christ. And do you know what she said?? She asked if we would teach her!!! That surprised me!! I didn't expect that at all!! So because she initiated it I pulled up the Because of Him video in Japanese and then I bore testimony in Japanese. Again, it amazes me how the Spirit hushes a room even if no one else understands the language. While talking to her I taught her that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are all separate beings, but together make up God. And also a little about how Jesus Christ died for us to save us. And although he died, he rose from the dead. It was a very spiritual moment. We have a lesson set up to teach her next week. The only road block is she is 16 so we a) need to get her parents permission and b) find out if there are any rules with her program. But so far so good!!! If there are any bumps in the road, we'll simply just stop teaching her. BUT WE HAVE A JAPANESE INVESTIGATOR!!! AH!! =D The joy in my heart guys! The Joy in my heart!!! <3
So you could say it's been a pretty good week. =]
I love being a missionary. I love it so much. I can't believe I only have a short amount of time left to cherish it. Thank you for your support and love. I love you guys!
