PDay update 7/27/15

Hey everyone!!

SOOOoooo I have a LOT of pictures to send today.

First of all, let me tell you about my week.

So last week we had our Zone Training. (Every other transfer we switch from Zone Conference and Zone Training.) And the day before, SURPRISE!  The Sister Training Leaders are giving one of the trainings at Zone Training. hah.  So we had to prepare that like the night before.  And let me just tell you, it was THE BEST Zone Training I have ever been to.  (Not because of our training.  But, it was pretty good actually.)  But because I have never felt the spirit SO strongly before at a meeting.  It was so uplifting.
The training that Sister Mangelson and I were to give was on Teaching for Understanding.  And so we focused on how investigators feel when we are teaching them new gospel principles.  To put the missionaries in the shoes of the investigator we did a demonstration where I taught an elder some dance steps using words that are familiar to me, but foreign to him.  Haha And then it lead to focusing on how we really need to follow the Spirit when we teach people and remember that this is ALL new to them.
The Zone Leaders gave a great training too.  They had talked to us about it prior so that we would be able to help out with it when they presented it.  It was just an eye-opening experience of how when we contact we don't do it with the power and authority that we are supposed to.  The way Preach My Gospel tells us to do it.  (Usually in a contact we start by asking really pointless questions to help them feel more "comfortable" but actually, it does the opposite.)  And our whole mission does this!  Not that it's this horrible sin or anything, but that we need to be more bold and direct.  It really is separating the wheat from the tares.  So when we contact we now jump right into teaching a principle and testifying of that principle.  Then we invite them to learn more.  It is MUCh more effective and powerful.  And the Spirit is the one who directs the conversation.  If He's not directing it then it doesn't even work.
It was just a really great conference.  They called me and another elder to bear testimony at the end and I am really grateful that I had that opportunity.  The Spirit was just really strong in the room.  Our Zone Leader had us all take a moment to just feel the Spirit that was there in silence.  It was just. AH!  So good!  I can't even explain it!

Other than that we have just been trying to figure out the area.  Since we white-washed we are starting from square one.  There is a lot of ax-sharpening that needs to be done here before we can start cutting down any trees.  But, let me just say that Amherst is a very very cute town. =]  Very cute.  And oh how I missed Nova Scotia.  I love it here.  It is SO beautiful.  This is my last Summer here before Winter hits and then I go home.  So I am trying to enjoy the beauties.

Ok, I am going to be sending you all A LOT of pictures.  Buckle up. ;]  And I will explain them as I send them.  But we took a trip to a part of our area that is about an hour away, and we listened to this talk somewhere along the way.  I really want you to read it/listen to it.  If you don't, I'll find you. Haha just kidding.  You know I won't.  BUT still read it! =]
