PDay update 4/13/15

We had an amazing experience this week! And I am going to start with that before I tell you a run down of my week.

Sister Leak and I had an appointment about 15 minutes out of Presque Isle, but it had fallen through. Our back-up was to still go out there and to work despite the cancellation. We decided to contact a potential from the area book that had never been contacted, but the information said that they were "drawn" to this potential's home. (We had tried to contact them before but they were not home.) When the man answered the door he told us that he was a pastor and that he was uninterested, but directed us to some low-income housing down the road. We went there and as we sat in the parking lot, we both prayed to know where we should focus our efforts. Both of us felt to go to two specific places. One in back of us, and one to the front. When we got out of the car a young girl was walking her dog behind our car and upon talking with her we found that her mother is a less active member! Although, she said at that time it was not good to try and see her. So we continued to the house in the front. The first door we knocked turned out to be a member and an excommunicated member that had just moved from North Carolina! And they let us both right in! They have agreed to meet with us.
We talked with Bishop Freeman and he didn't know that they had moved here. I know that the Spirit lead us to their house. If He had not, no one would even know they were here.
It was such a miracle! The Spirit works through the missionaries!

Tues Apr 7-Today we helped out at a food pantry for a couple of hours.  I really enjoyed that. =]
We had some lessons set up in Fort Fairfield, but both of them fell through.  We were going to go see Connie, but she called and wasn't feeling good.  She sounded so sad on the phone. =[ But I hope she's feeling better.  She's such a cute lady. And we were going to take a Book of Mormon to Winnie, but she never told us her address! Merp. haha
We had dinner at the Mathie's home.  They are so cool!  They had so much helpful information for missionary work!  AND they gave us 4 referrals!  WHOA!  Love them! haha

Wed Apr 8- District Meeting! We had it in Caribou and then afterwards I went to Houlton with Sister Bowden for exchanges while our STL worked with Sister Leak in Presque Isle. Houlton was pretty nice.  We helped out and did some service for a humanitarian place.  We almost would have had a new investigator, but the lady that worked there wasn't interested in meeting and setting up a lesson.  But we taught her while we were there!  Find while you teach and teach while you find! =D

Thurs Apr 9- I came back to Presque Isle today and today was the day that we had that miracle happen that I wrote about at the beginning!  IT WAS SO COOL!  We never would have found them if it wasn't for the Spirit.  It was seriously THE coolest mission experience I have yet to have. =]

Fri Apr 10- Weekly Planning today.  It was a good planning session.  =]
We had a lesson with a couple former investigators in Mars Hill tonight.  It was kind of a rough lesson.  The husband was kind of a little rude the whole time we were teaching because he was on his computer the whole time and he kept laughing at us.  And then at one point he was saying that going to church for 3 hours was just asking too much.  So I said, "Jesus Christ paid the price for every single one of my sins.  I will NEVER be able to pay him back for the rest of my life.  No matter how hard I try, I cannot even pay back the tiniest portion of what He did for me. The least I can do it go to church for 3 hours each week."  (I wasn't sassy when I said that, hope you know.  You can't tell over email. haha I made sure the Spirit was there.)
It must have made a difference because before he wasn't even considering church and then after that he asked us what time our services were at. hahah ;D
After their lesson we went and "heart-attacked" a recent convert's house.  (Cut out hearts and wrote nice things on them and taped them to her door.)  It was fun!  But it was raining so we had to try to keep them dry.

Sat Apr 11- Pretty average day today.  We had correlation with the elders and then had apartment/car inspections.  OH! I met the sweetest lady ever today!  We met with a less active member who is older and I swear she is one of the nicest people I have ever met.  Her name is Patricia. =]  I really liked talking with her.  She's a cutie.

Sun Apr 12- Today was our first week that we were able to be there for all three hours of church.  We've been here a month! haha So many crazy things have happened so we just haven't been able to go to a full Sunday yet! But it was really good. =] After church we went knocking, but no one was interested.
We had a lesson with Kim and we put her on date for baptism!  She's on date for May 16th. After that we had a lesson with Mary.  She has some issues with the idea of modern prophets so we let her see pictures of the prophet and apostles and we listened to a talk by President Monson. (Love: The Essence of the Gospel.)  And I told her that by keeping the commandment and commitments that we extend to her she will continually feel the peace that she did while listening to the prophet.  She then asked me, "How did you know I felt peace?"  (She didn't specify what she felt.)  So I asked her, "Well, did you feel peace?" and she said, "Yes, but I never told you that."  So I said, "That's because I know that that is what the Spirit feels like." =]  SHE FELT PEACE WHILE LISTENING TO THE PROPHET!  Whoo! =]

It was a good week. =]

Last thing, a quote from the Gospel Principles teacher that I just liked,
"When we stand on common ground we can lift each other up."
Just a cute little quote that I liked. =]

LOVE YOU ALL! =D

I got a haircut last Monday. =]  I got layers!  I really like them.  A member in the ward did it for free!

And also, please enjoy this picture I made depicting my mission.
