PDay update 2/2/15

For some reason her father and I weren't getting her emails but thankfully others forwarded a copy of her mass email to me so I could read it :)

Hey everyone!!
I can't believe that it's February!  Holy goodness time is so weird.  I hit my 6 month mark this last Friday.  Even weirder.  Like, I never thought I would ever get here.  It always seemed SO far away.

Tues Jan 27-  There was a snowstorm that hit Nova Scotia (and some other eastern places too) and so President Leavitt told us that we had to stay inside for the day and do book-work. Sooooo nothing exciting. haha Sister Hoy did some packing and I did some cleaning to prep for transfers.

Wed Jan 28- Today was filled with lots of goodbyes.  We had lunch with Sister Spears and said goodbye to her.  That was really nice and it was a good visit with her.  She's a sweetheart.  We also saw Heidi, Matthew, and Mary and said goodbye to them.  We also said goodbye to Elder Dudley and Elder Sortomme there because they left that night to transfer.  We also had dinner with Sister Rushton and said goodbye to her.  While we were visiting her husband in the hospital one of the security guys that was in the room just starting teasing us like he knew us.  It was kind of weird. haha And he was just super friendly.  He became a potential, but we will definitely be bringing our branch mission leader and his wife. hahah  Sister Hoy packed the rest of her stuff that night too. =/

Thurs Jan 29-Transfer day. =/  So we got some last minute stuff done and then at 12 we left for Cole Harbour.  At 2 we got to go through the TEMPLE! =D  I missed the temple so much.  The Spirit is SO intense when the whole session is just a bunch of missionaries.  I can't even describe it.  After the session we didn't get out of there until 6:30'ish.  So we went home and met with Bro Mackinnon and his wife and then went home.

Fri Jan 30- 6 MONTHS!  WOO! =] haha Weekly planning day.  Every Friday.  Doesn't change. haha We had correlation with the elders and we are planning a branch board game party in a couple of weeks.  Pretty excited about that. =] We also had a lesson with Heidi and taught her about tithing.  Sister Johnson and I teach pretty well together.  I'm happy about that. =]  Also, we went to hockey and it was Sister Johnson's VERY first time ever and Bro Mackinnon said that she makes me look like a "french sissy" hahahahahaha It's a good thing I'm ok with that! hahaha Also, Tracy came to hockey tonight!  I'm really glad about that too.

Sat Jan 31-Today was a really good finding day. =]  We were able to talk to some members and make invitations for the branch party.  Also we went knocking and we met Chris!  He is married and a father of two kids.  He was really nice and talked to us for like, 20 minutes! He seems like he is searching for something in his life and I am hoping that we can help him see that we have what he is looking for!  He is really REALLY busy though taking his kids to their sports activities each week.  But hopefully we will get the chance to meet with him.  =]  We also had dinner with the Rector family tonight.  On Sunday she asked what I would like and I told her that I really miss mexican food.  AND IT WAS SO GOOD!  Canada just does not have mexican restaurants.  It's actually really sad. haha I miss enchiladas.  It was a really good visit with them.  We made a arch with playdough and then took out the "keystone" and used it as an object lesson about the Book of Mormon.  The kids got it and understood it really well!  I was surprised hahaha And they really liked it too. =]

Sun Feb 1- Church was really good today.  In Relief Society we learned about becoming "scriptorians". We took little tests to check our understanding of the scriptures and it was fun. =]  It's quite humbling hahaha I know that I need to learn the scriptures and understand them better.  I definitely have been working on that. We had a lesson with Heidi and Mary and the elders came to it.  It was kind of a little bit scattered, but it was still a good lesson.  I know that the Spirit was there and that they could feel it. We also had dinner at the Mackinnon's tonight.  That was really fun. =]  We had some good doctrinal conversations.  After that we saw Sister Sweeney and had a good visit with her.  We shared the visiting teaching message with her.  Then, you know, area book and stuff. haha Mission life!

So yeah, brand new companion!  So far things are going pretty well!  I definitely miss Sister Hoy, but I know that this companionship will be good too. =] I am excited to see what happens this transfer.

Something kind of interesting to me is that I saw my MTC companion on Thursday and she has changed.  She is more mature and a little bit different than when I saw her 6 months ago.  And when I told her that she said, "Funny, I was going to say the same thing about you!"  So I guess I have changed a little bit.  o_O haha Weird.  I don't feel different.  But I definitely can see how I have grown and improved on my mission, so it makes sense.

I love you guys!  Thank you for all that you do!  Hope you stay warm!
