PDay update 2/23/15

Hi everyone!
I hope you are all enjoying your February!  I hear that the weather there has been really nice.  Lucky. haha It's been a little nicer here the last two days, but other than that we have had a lot of storms and a LOT of snow.  People tell us that you can't be for sure that Spring is here until April or May.
-_- oh good. Haha I actually don't mind.  I really love the cold because it's easier to work in.  The heat is going to be the problem for me.

Tuesday Feb 17-Today was pretty good. =] The first part of the day was a pretty normal missionary day.  We had some lessons set up and had visits scheduled.  We went to dinner at Sister Rushton's house.  She is a sweetie.  And she had her niece over for dinner as well.  Her niece is not a member and doesn't have any set religion.  She was interested!!  We taught her some things over dinner and Sister Rushton had some great comments!! =] This is so great!  And she already has a SOLID fellow-shipper!
ALSO!  CRAZINESS!!  We did family history with Sister Dowell tonight and I found out something about my 3rd great grandpa that I never knew!!  And I can't believe I never knew!! His name is James Henry Rollins and he was one of the early saints.  Someone has put a bunch of pictures and information into his family search profile and there is a letter from BRIGHAM YOUNG to him!!!  Turns out, he knew Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.  He received his endowments in the Nauvoo temple and then made the journey from there to Salt Lake City.  What?!  And get this, there is apparently a pretty well known church history story (that I didn't know) about two girls protecting the first printing of D&C.  Those two girls are James Henry Rollins' daughters!  My great aunts!  AH!  DO YOUR FAMILY HISTORY WORK!  You never know what you are going to find!!

Wednesday Feb 18- Today we had district meeting in Truro so we had to drive there.  Afterwards we came back and were supposed to have a lesson but it fell through. We did some knocking today.  People weren't very open at all.  Afterwards we went and saw Sister Sweeney. =] She is doing really well. =]  Pretty happy about that. And then we ended the day with some more finding. Nothing eventful today really.

Thursday Feb 19- This morning we went to see a member that is in the hospital right now.  We wanted to check up on her.  We tried to find some service opportunities as well, but we couldn't find very many.  Then we went to Pictou and looked for some old potential investigators from our records.  After that we had a lesson set up with Marcia and Alvin, (people we met from a referral.) and we had Sister Dowell there with us.  It was a hard lesson.  They are both very catholic and had a hard time with believing that God has a body.  As well, that we will need our bodies after we die.  She had a hard time with that one.  But they are some of the sweetest people!  I just wish they were more open.
That night the Relief Society had a little activity that we were invited to.  It was called "New to You". Everyone brought 10 items and then set them out and then people could go around and put a clothes pin on the things they liked.  At the end, if there were more than one pin on an item they would draw the name from a hat to see who won it. Great activity idea!

Friday Feb 20- Weekly planning, as usual.  Tracy called us this morning though and invited us for lunch and then to help her shovel some snow in her driveway so she could park her car.  Shoveling is so hard.  My arms are not built for this stuff. haha  We then had a visit with Sister Cassidy. =]  She is such a sweetheart.  Goodness I love her.  She is really happy and fun and bubbly. =] She's a cutie. The rest of the day we spent doing finding activities.

Saturday Feb 21-This morning was a bit of a gong show because the elders last minute couldn't come to a finding activity that we had planned. So we had to arrange to make all of our back ups work. But we ended up going and seeing Sister Bard Macdonald.  =]  She's such a cute lady. We talked to her about Family History work.  Also, I really love her cat. =]
More knocking.  More uninterested people.  Except for one!!  her name is Cyra. =]  yay. =]
We had a great visit with Sister Nichole Bailey.  I've enjoyed getting to know her better.  She gave us some great ideas of people to work with and things we can do to involve the branch more.
Aaaannnnd then more finding.

Sunday Feb 22-Church!  Heidi came to church today!! And her son Matthew went to primary and stayed!! After church we took Sister Wilson the sacrament like usual.  Her family came in at the end and it was kind of awkward because one of her family members was someone that we had contacted on the street a couple of times. hahah Kinda funny.
We had dinner at Sister Sweeney's house.  She made turkey pot pie. =]  Oooh happiness. Afterwards we went to Pictou and tried to find some former investigators.  I don't know if you remember Theresa that we were teaching when I first got here, but we went and knocked on her door because we sort of just lost contact with her and we never knew what happened.  Well, turns out her phone broke and she couldn't get in contact with us because for some reason the number in her phone for us was wrong. And then also the pipes in her house froze so for the last 6 weeks that had to live somewhere else.  So we re-contacted her just at the right time!!  She is still interested!! =D YAY!!  And we had a lesson with Heidi tonight.  It was a very needed lesson of reviews.  And I really think it was good for her.  We have moved her baptismal date (Again.  Hopefully for the last time.) to March 7th. =]  I think this date will actually happen.  I feel good about this one.

So that's my week!!  Today we are planning to go thrift store shopping. =]  Yay. =] And we will have dinner at the Woods' tonight.  We have a lesson set up, but we haven't been able to get in contact with her.  Hopefully it happens.  Appointments fall through a lot.  It just comes with mission life. ;] And then we're going to find for the last 2 hours of the day.  Good times.  I'm pretty excited because we have a lesson set up with Sister Rushton's niece, Annie, tomorrow at 6:30. =]  I reaaaalllyy am excited about her.

I love you guys!  I love my mission. =]  On Saturday I will be 7 months old in the mission!!  AH!  (February doesn't have a 30th, so I'm goin with the 28th.)

Have a great week!!
Sister Creager
